Hatikvah

כֹּל עוֹד בַּלֵּבָב פְּנִימָה נֶפֶשׁ יְהוּדִי הוֹמִיָּה

kol od balevav penimah nefesh yehudi homiyah

So long as in the heart, within, a Jewish soul still yearns,

וּלְפַאֲתֵי מִזְרָח קָדִימָה עַיִן לְצִיּוֹן צוֹפִיָּה

ulfa'atei mizrakh kadimah ayin letziyon tzofiyah

and onward, toward the east, an eye still watches toward Zion,

עוֹד לֹא אָבְדָה תִּקְוָתֵנוּ הַתִּקְוָה בַּת שְׁנוֹת אַלְפַּיִם

od lo avdah tikvatenu hatikvah bat shnot alpayim

our hope is not yet lost, the hope of two thousand years,

לִהְיוֹת עַם חָפְשִׁי בְּאַרְצֵנוּ אֶרֶץ צִיּוֹן וִירוּשָׁלַיִם

lihyot am khofshi be'artzenu eretz tziyon virushalayim

to be a free people in our land, the land of Zion and Jerusalem.
