The short answer
An AI Hebrew tutor gives you a speaking partner who can reply, explain a correction and help you keep going. Baba Learn brings those conversations together with Hebrew sound practice, saved phrases and correction review. Choose Maya or David, practise a situation from your life, then revisit the words and mistakes from that conversation. It is currently in private beta on iPhone and Android.
- Modern Israeli Hebrew, with optional English and transliteration help.
- Conversation, correction and review in one app.
Start with something you actually want to say
A useful lesson can begin with a real need: ordering lunch, meeting a neighbour or telling someone about your weekend. Pick one situation and say one complete sentence. The next question gives you a reason to listen and answer, rather than recite a line from memory.
This practice example starts at a café. Say your first line aloud, read the reply, then answer without looking at the translation. Change the order next time so you have to make a new sentence.
| Turn | Hebrew | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| You | אפשר קפה קטן, בבקשה? | A small coffee, please? |
| At the counter | לשבת או לקחת? | For here or to go? |
| You | לקחת, תודה. | To go, thank you. |
Get help without abandoning the conversation
Knowing the idea you want to express and finding the Hebrew for it are different tasks. In Baba Learn, How Do I Say can help with a missing phrase. You can also request a simpler line or a suggested reply, and reveal English or transliteration when you need support.
Use the help to finish the exchange, then return to the phrase. Try saying it once without reading. The goal of the support is to make your next attempt possible.
- Ask for a simpler reply when a whole sentence feels out of reach.
- Use a suggested reply as a starting point, then change one detail.
- Save a phrase you expect to need outside the lesson.
Understand what changed in the correction
A correction is more useful when you understand the reason. Hebrew present-tense verb forms and many adjectives agree with their subject. A learner talking about themself needs the form that fits; a question addressed to someone else may need a different form.
Baba Learn explains corrections and lets you return to them in Fix Your Mistakes. For example, the spelling of אני רוצה stays the same without vowel marks, while the spoken ending changes. Listen as well as read.
| Hebrew | Masculine form | Feminine form |
|---|---|---|
| אני רוצה | ani rotse | ani rotsa |
| מה שלומך | ma shlomkha | ma shlomekh |
| שלך | shelkha | shelakh |
Choose a conversation that gives you a way in
Different days call for different starting points. Use a Classic conversation for a guided exchange, a role-play for a situation you want to rehearse, Read and Talk when a text gives you something to discuss, or Free Talk when you already have a topic.
Maya and David are the available tutors. Choose the voice you prefer and bring the lesson back to your own life: your order, your plans or the question you wanted to ask yesterday.
| Mode | A useful starting point |
|---|---|
| Classic | Follow a conversation and practise responding. |
| Role-play | Rehearse an everyday Israeli situation. |
| Read and Talk | Use something you read as the subject of a conversation. |
| Free Talk | Bring a topic or question of your own. |
Keep the useful part after the lesson
A conversation produces more than a transcript. You may discover a word you need often, a phrase that sounds more natural or a recurring form you want to practise. Save useful words and phrases in My Cards, and revisit corrections in Fix Your Mistakes.
My Cards offers reveal, typing and spoken review. Recaps and lesson history help you find your way back. Try using a saved phrase in a different situation so your practice goes beyond repeating the original example.
Use AI practice alongside the rest of your Hebrew
An AI tutor gives you another place to practise, while a teacher can plan instruction, assess progress and investigate a subtle mistake with you. Reading, listening and conversations with people bring different kinds of experience.
Baba Learn focuses on modern Israeli Hebrew, with an English interface. AI feedback can be wrong, and its sound feedback does not assess word stress. If a correction seems doubtful, keep the example and check it with a teacher or fluent speaker. The separate Baba web tutor is another speaking product; its access and features differ from Learn.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an AI tutor for Hebrew?
Yes. Baba Learn is a Hebrew speaking app in private beta, and other dedicated and multilingual products also advertise Hebrew tutoring. Compare the actual Hebrew conversation, feedback and review features rather than the language of the menus.
Can a beginner use an AI Hebrew tutor?
Baba Learn offers optional English and transliteration, simpler replies, suggested replies and How Do I Say support. Start with one useful phrase and a short exchange; you can also use alphabet and grammar resources alongside speaking practice.
Can an AI tutor replace a Hebrew teacher?
AI practice and teacher-led instruction serve different needs. A qualified teacher can assess progress and check subtle language questions; an AI tutor can provide additional opportunities to speak and revisit feedback.
Which Hebrew does Baba Learn teach?
Baba Learn focuses on modern Israeli Hebrew for everyday conversations, rather than Biblical Hebrew or an accredited proficiency curriculum.
What happens to my corrections?
You can revisit explained corrections in Fix Your Mistakes and save useful words and phrases in My Cards. Recaps and lesson history help you return to previous practice.
