baba is a plugin for ChatGPT and Claude from baba (itsbaba.com), the Hebrew translator app. Once it is connected, you can ask for a Hebrew translation, what an Israeli slang word means, a sentence broken down word by word, phrases for a situation, or today's Israel news in plain words, and ChatGPT or Claude calls baba for the answer. In ChatGPT, baba answers with interactive cards you can listen to, and has its own home in the sidebar. It signs in with your baba account and uses your baba plan for translations.

Every tool only reads, except update_settings, which saves the preferences you ask baba to remember. None of them changes anything else in your baba account. Daily allowances reset at midnight UTC.

Questions

Do I need a baba account?

Yes. When you add baba, ChatGPT or Claude opens a baba sign-in page. Sign in with an email code, Google or Apple. If you have never used baba, the same page creates a free account.

What does baba see from my chat?

Only what ChatGPT or Claude sends to a baba tool: the text to translate, break down, add nikud to or transliterate, the slang word or phrasebook situation you asked about, or the news search. baba does not see the rest of your conversation, and translations made from ChatGPT or Claude are not saved to your baba history. The only things baba keeps are the preferences you ask it to remember. Details are in the privacy policy.

What does it cost?

The plugin is free to add. Translations count against your baba plan, the same as in the app: the free plan includes 2,500 characters a month, and baba Pro includes 250,000. Listening to Hebrew read aloud is part of baba Pro, as in the app. Slang, the phrasebook, word breakdowns, nikud, transliteration and news are free with a daily allowance.

The sign-in window closed or the connection failed. What now?

Start the connection again from ChatGPT or Claude; each attempt opens a fresh baba sign-in. If Google or Apple sign-in does not return you to the chat, use the email code option instead. If a tool says your allowance is used up, the free plan has reached its monthly translation limit, and baba Pro raises it. Still stuck? Write to baba support with the name of the assistant you were using.

How do I disconnect baba?

In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps, choose baba and disconnect. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, choose baba and disconnect. To remove the connection on baba’s side as well, write to baba support and we will delete it, which stops it working at once.
