Shema שְׁמַע

שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ יְיָ אֶחָד

shema yisra'el adonai eloheinu adonai ekhad

Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is one.

וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת יְיָ אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּכָל לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁךָ וּבְכָל מְאֹדֶךָ

ve'ahavta et adonai elohekha bekol levavekha uvkol nafshekha uvkol me'odekha

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.

וְהָיוּ הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם עַל לְבָבֶךָ

vehayu hadevarim ha'eleh asher anokhi metzavekha hayom al levavekha

These words that I command you today shall be upon your heart.

וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶךָ

veshinantam levanekha vedibarta bam beshivtekha beveitekha uvlekhtekha vaderekh uvshokhbekha uvkumekha

Teach them to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the way, when you lie down, and when you rise.

וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאוֹת עַל יָדֶךָ וְהָיוּ לְטֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ

ukshartam le'ot al yadekha vehayu letotafot bein einekha

Bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be frontlets between your eyes.

וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל מְזֻזוֹת בֵּיתֶךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ

ukhtavtam al mezuzot beitekha uvisharekha

Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
