Birkat Hamazon

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם הַזָּן אֶת הָעוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ בְּטוּבוֹ בְּחֵן בְּחֶסֶד וּבְרַחֲמִים

barukh atah adonai eloheinu melekh ha'olam hazan et ha'olam kulo betuvo bekhen bekhesed uverakhamim

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who feeds the whole world in His goodness, with grace, kindness, and compassion.

הוּא נוֹתֵן לֶחֶם לְכָל בָּשָׂר כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ

hu noten lekhem lekhol basar ki le'olam khasdo

He gives bread to all flesh, for His kindness is forever.

וּבְטוּבוֹ הַגָּדוֹל תָּמִיד לֹא חָסַר לָנוּ וְאַל יֶחְסַר לָנוּ מָזוֹן לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

uvetuvo hagadol tamid lo khasar lanu ve'al yekhsar lanu mazon le'olam va'ed

In His great goodness we have never lacked, and may we never lack food, forever.

בַּעֲבוּר שְׁמוֹ הַגָּדוֹל כִּי הוּא אֵל זָן וּמְפַרְנֵס לַכֹּל וּמֵטִיב לַכֹּל וּמֵכִין מָזוֹן לְכָל בְּרִיּוֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר בָּרָא

ba'avur shemo hagadol ki hu el zan umefarnes lakol umetiv lakol umekhin mazon lekhol beriyotav asher bara

For the sake of His great name, for He is God who feeds and sustains all, does good to all, and prepares food for all His creatures that He created.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַזָּן אֶת הַכֹּל

barukh atah adonai hazan et hakol

Blessed are You, Lord, who feeds all.

נוֹדֶה לְךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַל שֶׁהִנְחַלְתָּ לַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ אֶרֶץ חֶמְדָה טוֹבָה וּרְחָבָה

nodeh lekha adonai eloheinu al shehinkhalta la'avoteinu eretz khemdah tovah urkhavah

We thank You, Lord our God, for the desirable, good, and spacious land that You gave our ancestors as a heritage,

וְעַל שֶׁהוֹצֵאתָנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וּפְדִיתָנוּ מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים

ve'al shehotzetanu adonai eloheinu me'eretz mitzrayim ufeditanu mibeit avadim

and for taking us out, Lord our God, from the land of Egypt and redeeming us from the house of slaves,

וְעַל בְּרִיתְךָ שֶׁחָתַמְתָּ בִּבְשָׂרֵנוּ וְעַל תּוֹרָתְךָ שֶׁלִּמַּדְתָּנוּ וְעַל חֻקֶּיךָ שֶׁהוֹדַעְתָּנוּ

ve'al beritkha shekhatamta bivsarenu ve'al toratkha shelimadtanu ve'al khukekha shehodatanu

and for Your covenant that You sealed in our flesh, for Your Torah that You taught us, and for Your statutes that You made known to us,

וְעַל חַיִּים חֵן וָחֶסֶד שֶׁחוֹנַנְתָּנוּ וְעַל אֲכִילַת מָזוֹן שָׁאַתָּה זָן וּמְפַרְנֵס אוֹתָנוּ תָּמִיד בְּכָל יוֹם וּבְכָל עֵת וּבְכָל שָׁעָה

ve'al khayim khen vakhesed shekhonantanu ve'al akhilat mazon she'atah zan umefarnes otanu tamid bekhol yom uvkhol et uvkhol sha'ah

and for life, grace, and kindness that You have granted us, and for the eating of food, for You feed and sustain us always, every day, at every time, and at every hour.

וְעַל הַכֹּל יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֲנַחְנוּ מוֹדִים לָךְ וּמְבָרְכִים אוֹתָךְ יִתְבָּרַךְ שִׁמְךָ בְּפִי כָל חַי תָּמִיד לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

ve'al hakol adonai eloheinu anakhnu modim lakh umevarkhim otakh yitbarakh shimkha befi khol khai tamid le'olam va'ed

And for all this, Lord our God, we thank You and bless You; may Your name be blessed in the mouth of every living thing, always, forever and ever.

כַּכָּתוּב וְאָכַלְתָּ וְשָׂבָעְתָּ וּבֵרַכְתָּ אֶת יְיָ אֱלֹהֶיךָ עַל הָאָרֶץ הַטֹּבָה אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָךְ

kakatuv ve'akhalta vesavata uverakhta et adonai elohekha al ha'aretz hatovah asher natan lakh

As it is written: You shall eat and be satisfied, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land that He has given you.

Deuteronomy 8:10, the verse on which Birkat Hamazon rests.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ עַל הָאָרֶץ וְעַל הַמָּזוֹן

barukh atah adonai al ha'aretz ve'al hamazon

Blessed are You, Lord, for the land and for the food.

רַחֵם נָא יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּךָ וְעַל יְרוּשָׁלַיִם עִירֶךָ וְעַל צִיּוֹן מִשְׁכַּן כְּבוֹדֶךָ

rakhem na adonai eloheinu al yisra'el amekha ve'al yerushalayim irekha ve'al tziyon mishkan kevodekha

Have compassion, Lord our God, on Israel Your people, on Jerusalem Your city, and on Zion the dwelling of Your glory,

וְעַל מַלְכוּת בֵּית דָּוִד מְשִׁיחֶךָ וְעַל הַבַּיִת הַגָּדוֹל וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ שֶׁנִּקְרָא שִׁמְךָ עָלָיו

ve'al malkhut beit david meshichekha ve'al habayit hagadol vehakadosh shenikra shimkha alav

on the kingdom of the house of David Your anointed, and on the great and holy house upon which Your name is called.

אֱלֹהֵינוּ אָבִינוּ רְעֵנוּ זוּנֵנוּ פַרְנְסֵנוּ וְכַלְכְּלֵנוּ וְהַרְוִיחֵנוּ וְהַרְוַח לָנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מְהֵרָה מִכָּל צָרוֹתֵינוּ

eloheinu avinu re'enu zunenu parnesenu vekhalkelenu veharvikhenu veharvakh lanu adonai eloheinu meherah mikol tzaroteinu

Our God, our Father, tend us, nourish us, sustain us, support us, and relieve us; and grant us relief, Lord our God, speedily from all our troubles.

וּבְנֵה יְרוּשָׁלַיִם עִיר הַקֹּדֶשׁ בִּמְהֵרָה בְיָמֵינוּ

uvneh yerushalayim ir hakodesh bimherah veyameinu

And rebuild Jerusalem, the holy city, speedily in our days.

On Shabbat, Retzeh is inserted before this line.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ בּוֹנֵה בְרַחֲמָיו יְרוּשָׁלָיִם אָמֵן

barukh atah adonai boneh verakhamav yerushalayim amen

Blessed are You, Lord, who in His compassion builds Jerusalem. Amen.

This is the only one of the four blessings whose closing is answered with Amen.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם הָאֵל אָבִינוּ מַלְכֵּנוּ אַדִּירֵנוּ בּוֹרְאֵנוּ גֹּאֲלֵנוּ קְדוֹשֵׁנוּ קְדוֹשׁ יַעֲקֹב

barukh atah adonai eloheinu melekh ha'olam ha'el avinu malkenu adirenu bor'enu go'alenu kedoshenu kedosh ya'akov

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, the God, our Father, our King, our Mighty One, our Creator, our Redeemer, our Holy One, the Holy One of Jacob,

רוֹעֵנוּ רוֹעֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמֶּלֶךְ הַטּוֹב וְהַמֵּטִיב לַכֹּל שֶׁבְּכָל יוֹם וָיוֹם הוּא הֵטִיב הוּא מֵטִיב הוּא יֵיטִיב לָנוּ

ro'enu ro'eh yisra'el hamelekh hatov vehametiv lakol shebekhol yom vayom hu hetiv hu metiv hu yeitiv lanu

our Shepherd, the Shepherd of Israel, the King who is good and does good to all, who each and every day has done good, does good, and will do good for us.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַטּוֹב וְהַמֵּטִיב

barukh atah adonai hatov vehametiv

Blessed are You, Lord, the good who does good.
