Modeh Ani

Modeh Ani thanks God for restoring the soul each morning. It does not contain the divine name, so it may be said before washing the hands. Said upon waking, before washing the hands.

modeh ani lefaneikha melekh khai vekayam

I thank You, living and enduring King,

shehekhezarta bi nishmati bekhemlah

for You have returned my soul to me with compassion.

rabbah emunatekha

Great is Your faithfulness.

Modeh Ani thanks God for restoring the soul each morning. It does not contain the divine name, so it may be said before washing the hands.
