Adon Olam

אֲדוֹן עוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר מָלַךְ בְּטֶרֶם כָּל יְצִיר נִבְרָא

adon olam asher malakh beterem kol yetzir nivra

Eternal Lord, who reigned before any form was created,

לְעֵת נַעֲשָׂה בְחֶפְצוֹ כֹּל אֲזַי מֶלֶךְ שְׁמוֹ נִקְרָא

le'et na'asah vekheftzo kol azai melekh shemo nikra

when all was made by His will, then was His name called King.

וְאַחֲרֵי כִּכְלוֹת הַכֹּל לְבַדּוֹ יִמְלֹךְ נוֹרָא

ve'akharei kikhlot hakol levado yimlokh nora

And after all has ceased, He, the awesome one, will reign alone.

וְהוּא הָיָה וְהוּא הֹוֶה וְהוּא יִהְיֶה בְּתִפְאָרָה

vehu hayah vehu hoveh vehu yihyeh betif'arah

He was, He is, and He will be, in glory.

וְהוּא אֶחָד וְאֵין שֵׁנִי לְהַמְשִׁיל לוֹ לְהַחְבִּירָה

vehu ekhad ve'ein sheni lehamshil lo lehakhbirah

He is one, and there is no second to compare to Him or to join with Him.

בְּלִי רֵאשִׁית בְּלִי תַכְלִית וְלוֹ הָעֹז וְהַמִּשְׂרָה

beli reishit beli takhlit velo ha'oz vehamisrah

Without beginning, without end, to Him belong strength and dominion.

וְהוּא אֵלִי וְחַי גּוֹאֲלִי וְצוּר חֶבְלִי בְּעֵת צָרָה

vehu eli vekhai go'ali vetzur khevli be'et tzarah

He is my God and my living Redeemer, the rock of my lot in time of trouble.

וְהוּא נִסִּי וּמָנוֹס לִי מְנָת כּוֹסִי בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָא

vehu nisi umanos li menat kosi beyom ekra

He is my banner and my refuge, the portion of my cup on the day I call.

בְּיָדוֹ אַפְקִיד רוּחִי בְּעֵת אִישַׁן וְאָעִירָה

beyado afkid rukhi be'et ishan ve'a'irah

Into His hand I entrust my spirit, when I sleep and when I wake.

וְעִם רוּחִי גְּוִיָּתִי יְיָ לִי וְלֹא אִירָא

ve'im rukhi geviyati adonai li velo ira

And with my spirit, my body: the Lord is mine, I shall not fear.
