Why the Partner Has to Know Your Gender
Look at the last two rows. "I live here" is גר (gar) for a man and גרה (gara) for a woman. "I am calling" is מתקשר (mitkasher) or מתקשרת (mitkasheret). A conversation partner who guesses wrong teaches you the wrong form. Avi, baba's tutor, speaks the form that fits you once you set it.
