How does the adaptive part work?

The test starts at A2. A correct answer moves the next question up a level; a wrong one moves it down. It stops after 20 questions, or sooner if the level settles for four questions in a row.

Is there a time limit?

No. Take as long as you want on each question; only the answer counts, not the time.
