Hebrew attaches pronoun suffixes directly to a preposition instead of using a separate word: "to me" is לִי (li), not a preposition plus a free-standing "me".
Some prepositions (של, ל, ב) take the same suffixes as a singular noun would; others (על, אל, לפני, אחרי) take the suffixes historically used for plural or paired nouns, ending in -ay, -eicha, -av and so on.
