רחל בלובשטיין
Rachel Bluwstein — "Rachel the Poetess" (1890–1931)
Second Aliyah poet of the Kinneret and Degania — sparse lyric Hebrew beloved to this day.
Rachel Bluwstein came from Russia with the Second Aliyah and wrote the lyric Hebrew of the pioneer generation — the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), Degania, and the aching "Perhaps it never happened…" ("perhaps none of it was"). Her sparse, honest lines are beloved and sung in Israel to this day.
She died of tuberculosis at forty and is buried by the Sea of Galilee she made her subject.
