Ezekiel 1's vision becomes "ma'aseh merkava," the Work of the Chariot, the core text of early Jewish mysticism, Hagigah 2:1 warns against expounding it publicly; the Heikhalot literature is "Merkava mysticism." Modern recycling: Israel's main battle tank, developed from the 1970s and in service from 1979 per standard IDF/defense-press accounts, the name deliberately layers ancient fire-and-wheels imagery onto the machine.

"Merkava" in modern Israel is primarily a *tank*; and "Merkava mysticism" is pre-Kabbalah (Heikhalot period, late antiquity), don't collapse all mysticism into Kabbalah.
