Israel: from 650,000 to ~7.2 million
Israel's Jewish population has grown about elevenfold since independence — from some 650,000 in 1948 to roughly 7.2–7.4 million in 2023–24 estimates. The population doubled in the first four years alone (1948–51), and the country now holds the largest Jewish community on earth, about 46 percent of world Jewry. The ingathering is not a metaphor; it is the demographic story of our time.
