baba is free to use for 2,500 characters a month with a free account, and baba Pro costs $5.00 a month billed yearly ($59.99 a year) or $12.99 month-to-month. Without an account you get 1,000 characters a month as a guest. Neither free option asks for a credit card. baba runs on iOS, Android and web, supports 10 languages, and has a public Apple App Store rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 30 ratings as of July 30, 2026.

## What do you get without paying?

There are two free levels. As a guest you translate up to 1,000 characters a month with no login at all. Creating a free account raises that to 2,500 characters a month. Neither asks for a credit card, and a single free translation can be up to 500 characters.

Gender-aware translation is included at both levels: setting the speaker and listener gender is not a paid feature. Slang mode, voice playback, image translation and PDF translation are Pro features.

## What does Pro add?

Pro is $59.99 a year, which works out to $5.00 a month, or $12.99 if you pay month-to-month. The yearly plan is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.

The main change is volume: 250,000 characters a month instead of 2,500, and up to 20,000 characters in a single translation instead of 500. That is the difference between translating messages and translating documents.

## How does the free trial work?

Pro starts with a 7-day free trial. A card is required at checkout, but nothing is charged until the trial ends. Cancel any time during the trial from Settings and you pay nothing. After 7 days the plan starts automatically.

## Is the free tier enough for me?

The free tier is enough if you translate short things occasionally. A WhatsApp message, a sign, a menu line, a sentence you want the gender right on: 2,500 characters a month covers a handful of those a week without you thinking about it.

It is not enough in three situations. If you translate documents, the 500-character per-translation cap stops you before the monthly one does. If you use slang mode, image translation, PDF translation or Hebrew text-to-speech, those are Pro features rather than larger limits. If you translate every day rather than occasionally, 2,500 characters a month is roughly a page and a half.

- The free per-translation cap is 500 characters, so a document will not fit on the free tier even if the monthly allowance would cover it.
- PDF translation covers up to 20 pages per document.
- baba is a translation tool, not a Hebrew course, and paying for Pro will not by itself make you fluent.
- A lawyer, doctor or accountant should still read a document that carries legal, medical or financial consequence. baba tells you what it says; baba does not tell you what to do about it.
- Machine translation of Hebrew slang depends on context that a short message may not carry.
